My two little angels keep hiding. they used to be out in the tank all the time but now they hide away in the tunnel or in the corner. They are only small probably about 2 inches, any ideas why? One of them did get sucked up the siphon when i was doing a water change (never panicked so much in my life) but he was okay after that. This behaviour only just started today. have got a hint of nitrite in the tank at .25, ammonia 0 and nitrate 5. Its a 50 gallon. They are in with 7 lemon tetras, 3 bristlenose and 3 panda corys.

you tank is not cycled ..you will need to do water changes to compensate for the nitrite level. nitrites are toxic.
at some point you had ammonia..if the angels are exposed to either ammonia or nitrite at anything above 0 over time they will suffer gill damage.
do a 50% water change to lower your nitrites.

We did a 60% just in case, we will continue to monitor and do them every day if necessary!

how often should i do 50% water changes in a 10G tank? 2 gallons a week is good for such a small tank.

are you concerned about the size of your angels?

depends on the situation you are in. if the tank is cycling you should do changes to keep the ammonia and nitrites below.25ppm
other wise you should be doing water changes based on the stocking levels in your tank.
if you are pushing the stock levels for 10 you may want to do a couple water changes during the week or 50% weekly
if you are not pushing the stocking levels you should do weekly 20-30%

The problem is definitely the tank not being cycled. The nitrite is causing the fish to be stressed and to hide.
