Hey all,

was just wondering if anyone had caught the segment on this mornings Today Show reguarding setting up a "Finding Nemo" style aquarium. I caught the tail end of it, and was not at all impressed by the petco guy giving the interview. I would like to write an email to the Today Show, but was hoping to get a little more info on what was said earlier in the segment. Can anyone provide me with a short summary or things that you disagreed with.

thanks,
Sharyl

I think SharylC is talking about a new segment.

Unfortunately, yes she is. The Today Show did a segment not unlike the Early Show's horrible attempt at setting up and aquarium. I don't know if it was as bad as the Early Show's segemtn, but I've heard people complain.

No problem - i didn't see the posts for the other thread until afer i had posted my message

the segment I posted on was a different one than the early show on I think the 14th. I looked at both the today show site and the early show site and could not find summary or video of either segment. please let me know if anyone finds clips etc. for either. I did send an email to the early show requesting that they add a video of their segment to their website.

I bet it had to be better than the Early Show's Segment. As long as they didn't put a Blue Tang in a 5 G!

no blue tang - but i was able to make out at least 6-8 maroon clowns in what appeared to be a ten gallon.

and when asked if the fish could be released into the ocean the man replied "its not a good idea because the water is very different between the aquarium and the ocean, but others have done it...it just takes a long time to acclimate fish to the ocean water." So I'm wondering once this Nemo craze is over how many indo-pacific clowns and hepatus tangs are going to end up in the north atlantic?

It is already happening. Someone I know who is an avid diver was diving over an old wreck outside Portsmouth, VA just a couple of days ago. He disovered a clownfish hiding in the wreckage. Just to be sure, he captured it and brought it into the marina. The marina now has it on display.
