Any ideas for a tankmate

I have had for the last 3 months (in fresh water) a spaghetti eel Moringua Raitaborua. It has been doing well with a sand substrate and comes out for his fave bloodworm and the guppies are always spawning livefood. He is being moved to his new tank soon (setup ready) as his size is increasing (8-9") he needs to go slowly brackish. Does anybody have any idea of suitable tankmates for him as i would rather stay away from guppy/molly etc. keeping in mind he is less than the width of a pencil.

The tank is 36"x15"x15". Nolapete mono would eat it, but i would love puffers in with it but im more afraid of the eel getting chomped on by them if anyone knows which are safer to try? Has anyone else got/had one of these and kept it with anything. As they bury there heads in the sand what is left showing looks like a worm. The last time i had one it got to 15" but i got rid because i couldnt find a suitable tankmate/s and it was taking up a large tank on its own (they grow to around 18"max but are safe with everything except fry as there only around the thikness of a pen, so considered 'small fish safe') will try to post a pic later when hes feeding

Celebes rainbows nice, didnt know they are brackish bb or some type of goby a definate will have to see whats around at the moment thanks.

I don't know much about them, but I always thought a brackish tank with archer fish would be cool. Also I like the small puffer idea.
