I recently received some killi fish eggs. They've hatched, and I am just wondering how long before they reach adult size? The book I'd hoped would answer this for me (ordered it 2 weeks before the fish!) hasn't arrived yet.

They are in a tank by themselves, low flow, sponge filter with a Whisper filter (sponges for media), tank at about 78 F, pH at 6.8, 0 ammonia/nitrites/nitrates(plants are sucking up anything they can get). I'm feeding them micro worms and vinegar eels right now (and have seen all of the babies eat at some point in the day).

TIA

OrionGirl, that depends on what type of killi you have. Some will be adult and spawning within 2 monthes or so but others may take up to six or more months. Do you know what you got? Reply back if you know and I will try for a more precise answer.

after reading this article by Michael, I would assume that the growth rate happens very quickly... A one year life span doesn't really leave them much time to waste... hth :)

Duh--you'd think I'd remember to post that tidbit, huh? I have australe gold's that haven't hatched yet (due on Wednesday of this week) and the a. ahli kribi eggs that hatched on Tuesday of last week.

Thanks!
