I have 9 gold angels in a community 75g tank. Two pairs have formed and each has spawned a few times. The first couple includes "Bull", by far the biggest and most colorful angel in the tank. Strangely, his chosen mate Ursula is the smallest of the nine. They tend to hang on the left side of the tank which has made following them easy.
The other couple were of more average sized fish and harder to keep segregated in my mind since they mingled socially more.
So today the second pair are spawning. At least, I thought it was the second pair. Turns out that Bull is the male with a different female! He had just spawned with Ursula 3 days ago! He has definitely proven to be the stud of the tank. But I would have thought that the original second male would have maintained his position with female2 (I guess she will be Stella, in honor of George of the Jungle). Is Bull's dominance and dual role unusual or to be expected? Can he keep this up?
