Should i get a pair of kribensis for my 20 long or a colony of like 6 shelldwellers? The species of shellies will probably be oscellatus or brevis if i get them.

For a 20g, even a 20 long, 6 Occellatus are too many. You would only be able to house 1 pair, possibly 2 in that tank. The males are extremely aggressive and like to have many shells to themselves. For the Brevis, I'd start with 2 pair and let them reproduce.
If you want more than 4 of them, stick to Multifasciatus, as you could have around 6 of them in the tank. Get a ton of shells though....they like their tanks full of them.

I'd say 6 multies or start with a pair and let them start a colony...

Hiya,
Multies are great. I keep them in a 38 gallon. I use guppies as dither fish and they tend to stay out and about longer... I also love kribs of course, they will breed and when the babies get big enough, they take them out for a walk LOL!
Good luck with whatever you chose and just make sure you read up on whatever you chose!

You wouldn't necessarily need any dithers for multies. Anything that has a mouth big enough would possibly think of them as prey and would eat any fry if they get too close.
I say just the multies. But it's up to you :)
