wanted to know what type of media i wanted to use for a 29 gallon sump? any suggestion? tank will have cherry shrimp and some various plants

bio balls or bio type media..... sponges and i like floss but not sure how well that would work in a sump.....

with a shrimp tank you really only need a sponge filter.
