I bought two cory cats, and a pleco today.

Im wondering though, should I have more cories? do they prefer groups?

and why are they so creepy? I seen them in the tank at the store, and they were ALL "grazing" in a large group, just sitting there, none of them moving, all looking at me, just staring...... Until i pointed at them and they all darted away....

weird

Lol, get a few more, they like company. They can be odd like that. What's the pleco going into?

the pleco is in a 35g right now, he is only about 1.5" right now, and im hoping my timing is right, by the time im done my redecorating, I can get my 50 setup, which is close, and have him in there before he outgrows the 35..... then, im pushing for a 125 heh...

also in the tank, a betta, and a juvenile snail somewhere.

I put my castle in the tank, huge as it is, and the betta has suddenly taken a liking to it, and warding everyone else away from it lol. he chased the pleco out of it.

Im going to buy some more plants, and another couple of cories tomorrow then.

these ones blended in with the gravel at the LFS so well, I honestly thought the tank was empty, and even when viewing up close, I didnt see ANY of them, until they started swimming away.
these guys are hilarious.

what kind of cories did you get? and yes, they are schooling fish so a group of 6 or larger is ideal. Congrats on the new fishies!

That's exactly how the cories looked like when I purhased some from the lfs. None was moving and they were just staring at anyone approaching the tank. I don't know if they are stressed out or something, but when I brought them home, they turned into energizer bunnies just swimming back and forth and hovering all over the tank. Some were even going against the current generated by the power head. Good luck with the cories. They are adorable creatures you would enjoy having them around. :D

ya mine are now happily swimming all over the place with each other.

how big do they get?

well, I got three more tonight. I think my betta is feeling threatened, as he has been attacking my pleco here and there, mostly when he sees the pleco on a plant.
the plecos fins are looking a little "nipped at". will the betta get used to the company?
