K well i was just looking in to what to do for heating my tank and i came across these http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=163 and was wondering if 4 of these would be good for heating my 518??? best i could figure is yes, but is there anything better to use???

The wattage is good, but I've never heard any review of that particular heater.

If I were you, I'd use 7 300 watt heaters from the visitherm brand.

k well do u know how well my tank would hold heat??? i think it is 3/4inch glass, and i could insulate the hood with that styrofaom insulation if it would help

a lot to do with will it be covered? what temp is the room its at?

one down side with the visi therm is its only 250w.....

what kind of filter are you using? i would be getting some inline heaters.

I'd avoid Odyssea/Jebo myself, to many reports of failure including melting / catching stuff on fire. They make decent lookin tanks but there electronics... not so much.

i will be using a fluval fx5 as well as a diy wet dry, plumbed with 2 inch pvc. my flow for the wet dry was about 2200gph. There will be a top, and it will probably be insulated with styrofoam insulation. My house doesn't really get that cold for the most part sometimes a lil chilly at night 10 degrees at the coldest (we use a wood burning stove) but only for a couple hours and on really cold nights, when we forget to stoke the fire before bed.

O any ideas on what type of inline heater to get????
