November through May my district uses Walla Walla's water which is kinda soft and close to neutral(7.2-3). the rest of the year I get the systems treated well water which is hard 150-200 KH and DH and any where from 8.0 to 9.5 ph.

so right now I have a tank full of algea and stressed fish because every thing about the water has gone through the roof. and it doesn't help that I am living in an attic apartment without the budget to run the ac all the time. I try to keep it below 90 degrees F in the apartment.

so excuse me while i go kick their bucket;)

I can sympathize to a certain extent - except mine is self-imposed change of conditions, 'cause I have to move quite a bit. But anyway.... You didn't mention the size of your tank. Mine is only 10 gal, and I just just found out what a Brita pitcher filter can do! I bought it for drinking water of course, but it gives me water with pH 6, KH 3. So I mix in about 1 gallon of this during my weekly water changes. Eventually, it's gotta make a difference. This weekend I might even suck it up and filter 3 or 4 gallon through it. So if you have a smallish tank, consider even buying some kind of bottled water (after figuring out what kind of KH it gives you). Other than that, I don't have any suggestions, but I do feel your pain.
