Okay I don't want to sound like an idiot :hitting: , but I went to a LFS that specializes in Central and South American Cichlids, told him my tank size etc and was wondering what I could get. He suggested this guy said max size 6" although he had never seen one that size. For the life of me I can't recall the name. So I realize I may need to get a bigger tank eventually since its a 20 g, hes only in there with a bushy nose pleco and he's only about an inch long. Ive searched a ton on the internet by the way and there are so many fish he looks like, Cryptoheros maybe? Thanks!

It looks like a Thoricthys but a better pic would help with the sp.

Looks like something in the Thorichthys genus - maybe a young T. ellioti.

a better pic and time is my guess.
would think thorichthys save for the tail which may not be developed at this age.
the stripe markings look similar to some Blue acaras juveniles I have seen(tails look similar)
but a better shot may help.

Here is another Thoricthys species - aureum - that it could also be. The face is too long for an Aequidens species.

Definite Thorichthys sp. Since it's still small, its hard to tell which one. Does not look like my T. maculipinnis. Sort of looks like there is a spot in the dorsal. If so, I'd be leaning toward T. sp 'Mixteco'.

i would say its a firemouth cichlid...when they are young they haven't completely developed all of there stunning features yet...or any real red for that matter...you'll be very happy with him when he's older! beautiful fish ...i just bought 2 yesterday :)
