So, I had been thinking about building an aquarium. My g/f's under is in the glass business so I figured I could save some $$. Was planning something in the 55-60 gallon range. To make a long story short, when I called him about the glass, he asked if I wanted to go bigger because he had a tank in his basement that he got a few years ago and lost interest. He thinks it's roughly 6ft x 18"deep by 30-36" tall. He also has the cover w/ lights and thinks he still has the filter. He said if we could get some help moving it and a truck to get it out of his place we could have it!
Now, if I've calculated right, I think it is in the 150 gallon range. My concern is that if it goes in the bedroom where I was planning, do I need to worry about the floor collapsing? I know it seems silly.. but I also know its a lot of weight. That section of the house is also over a store so there are no load bearing walls or anything under it.. Anyone know how mcuh weight we would be looking at and thoughts on the structural issues?
