Will Emperor 280 be too powerful for 10G tank?

I am looking to replace my Penguin 100 because the bio-wheel keeps stopping. But will the Emperor 280 water flow be too much in such a small tank?

What fish are in it? I used to use one on a 10 when I had Bluntnose Minnows, but now that I have baby guppies, I don't because the flow was too much. That thing was great, the huge BIO-Wheel never stopped spinning no matter how gunked up the wheel and cartridge was. The cartridge lasted an average of 4 months before clogging up due to its large size. I also liked the media container. So if your fish come from a fast flowing stream and they don't have long flowing fins, go for it. Maybe try a different filter that doesn't have a wheel to stop such as Whisper, Cascade, Millennium, Aqueon, or Imagine. I personally prefer the Imagine Biosystem PLUS OXY Skimmer or the Whisper series over all the others. They are very quiet and last a long time.

I dont think it would be too much flow, but if you want to be cautious, theres the option of placing a sponge or some fabric under the waterfall.

I just set up a 280 on my 20H and am seriously considering getting something smaller. It is doing a great job as a filter but the fish only get about half the tank to hang out in. The rest has too strong a current unless they are just swimming through. When a fish swims through the current it moves sideways with the current faster than it can swim across the flow. I am sure there are fish that would appreciate the flow but my active little endlers do not seem to. They are very active but mostly avoid the half of the tank right in front of the 280.

In most cases it is way to much. Plecos, hillstream loaches and other fast water fish wont mind, but most fish appropriate for a 10 gal. will.
