Mafia #13 -- The Witches of ACville

Game Mechanics

Each “Game Day”, all townies and witches will vote to "Burn" a suspected Witch. You vote by saying in bold text, “I vote to burn so and so…”

a) You must vote each Game Day, or you will experience an untimely death.
b) A vote for “NO ONE” cannot be used on Game Day 1, only on game day 2 and following Days.
c) If you decide to switch your vote, state in bold you are doing so and the new vote.
d) Do not put your vote in your signature.

Use thread information only. Do not communicate outside the thread about the game, unless authorized to do so.

a) You cannot use my PMs as evidence.
b) I recommend you stay invisible during the game.
c) For those authorized to do so, feel free to use an offsite messaging board.
d) Be polite and no flaming.
e) Do not take things personally or make personal attacks.

Do not post in the thread that you quit or you are going to stop playing. You will die as soon as I see your post.

a) Do not edit your posts.
b) Do not make after death posts.

The great citizens of ACville are facing a new challenge! Can they save their town from the coven of witches that have taken up residence…?

It appears that after a short calming period, a new threat has established a foothold in ACville.

It started with an increase of stray black cats, and continued with nightly sightings of strange things flying in the night acrooss the moon.

Can the Townies burn all the Witches, before they rule the town…?

You are a Townie. You must work together to destroy the coven of Witches before they turn ACville into their private haven.

You are the town’s Herbalist. You have a weak potion and it has limited duration so it cannot be used on the same person more than once. At the onset of night, you may protect one person with it and it will save them from being affected by a spell cast by the witches. You may communicate with the Prophet.

You are the town’s Prophet. Your job is to locate and eliminate the Witches. You can do an investigation each night in your search to rid the town of this evil. You may communicate with the Herbalist.

You are the Warlock. While you belive in your craft, you are not part of the coven and you are doing your best to learn how to cast spells. You just have problems with getting things right, sometimes. You have three spells at your disposal. You must use them on Nights 2, 3 and 4.

At the beginning of day 2, 3 and 4, you will PM me on who one of the spells will be used on. You even get to pick the spell. Spell #1 - doubles the vote of one person that night. Spell #2 - Converts a witch to a townie or a townie to witch, after the affects of that night. Spell #3 - forces a player to not vote at all and not have any consequences happen.

Your spells die with you if you are burned at the stake or a victim of the witches nightly games.

You are the Witches High Priestess/Priest. You and your wiccans are dedicated to take over ACville. You will PM me nightly on who your coven wants to cast a death spell on. You get investigations to find townie power roles. You may communicate with your coven outside the thread. If you die, the investigations end and each remaining witch will have to PM in their choice for the nightly death spell.

You are a Witch. Your job is to help the High Priestess/Priest kill all townies. You may communicate with the High Priestess/Priest outside the thread.

Investigations will reveal:

Townie, Witch, Power roles (Herbalist, Prophet )

High Priestess/Priest will appear as a Townie.

Nightly priority of events:

Herbalist's Protection
Burn at the stake
Witches death spell
Warlock's spells
Investigations

The Townies win if they kill all the Witches.

The Witches win, when they outnumber the Townies.

Please do not post until I announce Game ON...thanks....

I'm here. I have to mow the lawn though. As long as Dallas wins again, I couldn't care less about football.

Since charlie is playing I'll let him cast the first vote to draw someone out. I was thinking about voting for whoever made such and such post, but that never works out.

I guess I'll follow Z's idea and vote for the last player to post here.
Actually Ogre, i had given this some thought earlier. I also read over a couple of games at mafiascum.net where most players used generators for there first day votes. JL votes first to role play. ZS says he will vote for last to post usually, but then often doesn't. I decided today i would vote for the first person to post after game on. I will do this in all future games.

Lady G see's another black cat outside her cabin...it seems to be "watching" her and it makes Lady G very uneasy. She thinks to herself she should make sure she has plenty of salt to circle around her cabin for she has heard this helps to ward off evil witches.

This is usually interpreted as a declaration of the freedom to act, along with the necessity of taking responsibility for what follows from one's actions. Another element of Wiccan Morality comes from the Law of Threefold Return, which is understood to mean that whatever one does to another person or thing (benevolent or otherwise) returns with triple force.

But enough nitpicking,lol, we'll just consider them a rogue coven.

More then an old man like me needs. I haven't played since the 01 season so I don't really know what is new except the hit stick option. Right analog stick allows you to hit high or low.

I just play the basics, nothing fancy, to many buttons to remember to hit lol.

I vote to burn KOTD. My reason is because he was the 13th poster, in this 13th mafia game which began on October 13th and it seems like a good place to start since witches and stuff seem to like the #13.

I vote to burn KOTD. My reason is because he was the 13th poster, in this 13th mafia game which began on October 13th and it seems like a good place to start since witches and stuff seem to like the #13.

Well Lady G, you probably know how many there are and this is an effort to appear as a townie. However, if they're are 16 players, I would assume 4-5 are mafium. Being as the town has won most of these contests, I'm going to guess RB may have beefed up there team, so I'm leaning towards 5 witches. Did i guess right Lady?

I too am waiting on JMs response to that statement as its been pointed out 3 times now that she is withholding info.

Here is a post that is bugging me.

I have bolded the part that strikes me as suspicious.

King has already been unreceptive to Sways vote, and as far as first day random voting goes, it's not bad.

Now Lady seems to aknowledge it's not bad, but goes out of her way to suggest there isn't anything witchy about King. She fails to point out there isn't anything innocent about him either.

I've seen this behavior from JM before as well. What I do find interesting is her excuse of a million wordxs of all the things she is so busy with but yet still gets to post that she is so if that makes sense. While I am still so sorry for the whole puppy thing that fell into the middle of last game, it was one of the excuses... well, really the only one I would take. Yes, everyone is busy.... perhaps that time spent doing other things could be used to think about who you find innocent or guilty. Then being as you don't have the time to post so much, simply state as much and that you have been thinking.... then post your thought. Should take no more than a few minutes. JM knows better than to post that she's got a few ideas and to leave it at that. She has made her 1st mistake in appearing to be helpful without being helpful. A strong clue that we have found. Sorry Jules...

That said, I'm headed out for the day, got lots of shopping and stuff so won't for a few hours at the least. Townies, hang tight. We are going to finish this one off as victors!

I've seen this pattern from JM before. Its aggravating but not necessarily incriminating, she goes off about how she's picking up on clues no one else sees and has things figured out, but then doesn't tell anyone whats going on. Not exactly new...
Well statements like this muddy the waters IMO. It's early, but JM's behaviour already looks scummy to me.

Good Morning! Busy Night, it's going to be one of those Day 1's with a thousand changed votes, as long as we end up on a witch though. I don't want to give a list this early, yesterday was mainly fun posts but a few interesting things were revealed.

JM withholds her thoughts, not a betterment for the Town.
Charlie jumped in and accused half the town.
Lady G got rolled by several people but I haven't really seen what the fuss is about.
King got called out for being #13. I know Day 1 is hard, but I hope we can find better reasons than this.

Of all this I think the JM thing bugs me the most.
I vote to burn JudgeMax at the stake.

But I'm also looking for a post from the second newbie.

Guys/Gals, I only have a little bit of time right now I have to be at work in a hour and wont be back until around 6 (7 gametime) so I am going to try and get some thoughts out before I go.

So far obviously not too much to go on, just a couple things sorta stand out to me at this point.

JM-holding her "info", also the fish tank thing..now I was teasing her about posting pic's so she could "prove" that was really going on, but really I kinda thought she would at least respond to my post, she didn't and I do find that a little off IMO.

Chas-Coming out and jumping on everyone, stating he is changing his style..I mean really would anyone of said something about him "spacing" his statements?

Brk-Not posting, now this one is new so I'm giving the benifit of the doubt there. But still would like to hear from him/her.

That's about it at this point..not much like I said.

Ice saying he'll vote for low posters in post 11, then in post 28 he votes for Lady G.

Lady G is all over the place again and maybe kicking in doors but also accusing someone of not noticing her misspelling is a bit strange as she misspells all the time. ;)

Charlie, the chicken-choker seems to be kicking in doors as well, but is chicken choker a promotion from shoe-shine boy?

JMax, who has been questioned many times about her supposed thoughts but still yet to appear w/ an answer.

OK, to all of you, first of all, jeez, cut a girl some slack, I had my girls last game today, and do have to try and put together a new tank, a holiday party, and end of the season party, and we still have competition, and I am head of a new charity we are starting, and its a busy time of year, I also had family in from out of town, . Its the first day, and I have posted, and have read in what time I do have, if my life seems to get in the way, so I can not post as often as some of you, and thats a problem, please let me know,

If you really are innocent, i would recommend you consider everyone else to be guilty at this point. Myself included. The only way you would know they are innocent is if you are a witch.

Jm that whole "you guys" and stuff did make you look highly suspicious to me last game. I am also very wary of your excuses. You had tons of excuses last game for why you weren't posting, even though you actually were quite active. I see your excuses beginning again. I do believe they are real excuses, however, I think they are unnecessary to give us a laundry list of every activity and to cover your butt so much. Makes you look like your trying to hide something and appear to be a townie, when your really not.

Yes I was active last game, I will be active this game, I am just pointing out that I am busy, I am sorry I gave you all a laundry list, Its habit. I also wasn't making excuses as to why I wouldn't be here, I simply replied to the fact that everyone decided since I didn't answer immediately to posts directed to me that something was up, if you want immediate response in this game, maybe it should be held in chat, and not here.

The reason I write things the way I do is because I am generally referring to a large group of people, when I am asking questions , or talking to them, I don't include myself, ..That is where YOU GUYS are perceiving things that shouldn't be. I know what I am writing.

I can not align myself with YOU GUYS because I don't know who is innocent, and who is not, so , generally when I speak, i speak to everyone in the town, those who are innocent, should be smart enough to figure it out.

OK, to all of you, first of all, jeez, cut a girl some slack, I had my girls last game today, and do have to try and put together a new tank, a holiday party, and end of the season party, and we still have competition, and I am head of a new charity we are starting, and its a busy time of year, I also had family in from out of town, . Its the first day, and I have posted, and have read in what time I do have, if my life seems to get in the way, so I can not post as often as some of you, and thats a problem, please let me know,

Otherwise, there really wasn't anything I picked up, but some of you are really nervous about it, it was my strategy to get you all talking, and I wanted to see how you reacted, and well, that was interesting to say the least! For those of you who say I think I saw clues, the first game,I played It did work, did it not?.

Ice: You seem a little jumpy here for some reason, I think you might be a little more so than usual.

KOTD: just got your PM?...which was ok in its self, except, that like 4 people tried to cover for you, and you then brought it back up to re-clarify it, when it was all but forgotten.

PLant, you jumped in right after kings post, and clarified it for him, ..trying to cover the other members of your coven?....

DD: what the hell girl?..jumping quick this game are we?...Yes I was evil last game, lol, but I am not this game, and I have nothing to hide. Last game has nothing to do with this one, and you my dear, are a little feisty.

charlie?..You throw stones so early, but forget that your windows are made of glass?, or are your windows protected by your spells?..

this being said, my first vote is to burn plant at the stake this vote is subject to change, and It might.

You are the Warlock. While you belive in your craft, you are not part of the coven and you are doing your best to learn how to cast spells. You just have problems with getting things right, sometimes. You have three spells at your disposal. You must use them on Nights 2, 3 and 4.

At the beginning of day 2, 3 and 4, you will PM me on who one of the spells will be used on. You even get to pick the spell. Spell #1 - doubles the vote of one person that night. Spell #2 - Converts a witch to a townie or a townie to witch, after the affects of that night. Spell #3 - forces a player to not vote at all and not have any consequences happen.

I was looking at the Warlocks role. I 1st assumed since they were warlock they were evil. But look at the bolded spell. This could be used against the witches.

Spell 2 states it could switch witch to townie. If the Warlock was evil why switch witch to townie? It couldn't be accidental since they would know who was innocent and/or witch.

Spell 1 and 3 could be used to either teams advantage.

9 times out of 10 we lynch a newb and they are innocent. They make themselves look guilty because they are inexperienced posters. If they are in fact witches they will continue to mess up and we can get them later. Less chance of them leading the town against us.

I agree with this idea, B is coming across as a newer player, but not necessarily guilty to me yet. I remember when I was new and made a few jokes about something and suddenly I was like number one suspect, so it takes some experience to figure out what you can and can't say without triggering everyone's very sensitive triggers, especially on day one when we have no information.

Also, JM seems like she's kind of blowing everyone off regardless of what they say about her, and as usual the shopping list of why she may or may not be active at any given moment. Seems like someone trying way too hard to seem like they're not trying to seem innocent.

CS, to me, is playing his usual role...think Van Helsing on speed. Nothing he's done so far re. voting for about everyone in the game, really raises any flags for me. He's always kind of off the wall and twitchy.

Thats it for now, so my top suspicions right now are placed on JM and DD.

I don't care about 1st day votes on myself. I wouldn't panic because of your vote and weak reasoning for that vote.

I haven't lasted long in any of the past few games. I have nothing to lose by throwing out lists and suspicions.

All I ask is that the townies watch their posts, the witches seem a bit more aggressive this round so I'm leaning it to better players. They are all moderate to high posters so having them lay low isn't an option.

I don't care if my lists contain the better players. Just because they are the top tier doesn't mean they are all innocent. If anything because they are top players their posts should be taken with a grain of salt until they are known innocents.

I don't really know what to think of Brk to be honest. I'm not going to vote for him on Day 1, I would like to see how he plays both for the benefit of this round and the future games he may play in. But you can't say that room comment didn't send some kind of tingle your way.

Here is a post that is bugging me.

King has already been unreceptive to Sways vote, and as far as first day random voting goes, it's not bad.

Now Lady seems to aknowledge it's not bad, but goes out of her way to suggest there isn't anything witchy about King. She fails to point out there isn't anything innocent about him either.

For one I don't think I have really been all over the place, so not sure where that came from. Also I find it odd that you mention 3 different ppl here but vote for someone not on your "suspisions"? I don't really know what to think of Brk to be honest. I'm not going to vote for him on Day 1, I would like to see how he plays both for the benefit of this round and the future games he may play in. But you can't say that room comment didn't send some kind of tingle your way.

All I ask is that the townies watch their posts, the witches seem a bit more aggressive this round so I'm leaning it to better players. They are all moderate to high posters so having them lay low isn't an option.

I have the option of pulling out the refer unit, or using some silicone and plexiglass, and covering it, then I could use it as me reef, but I still would have to pull out the refer unit, I am unsure of what to do, it wouldn't have been such a big deal, but the high temp on the refer unit is 80, and that would be awesome in the summer,for a reef, no chiller needed, so I just have to figure out how to allow water to flow down, without messing with the sand bed, ..

Lady, I think you're the one that needs to take another look. I did list Ice on that list. And I said you were all over the place because it seemed like you questioned everyone as soon as they posted. And I'm not sure what Sploke thought, but I thought you were grilling him pretty hard. Rest assured I read every post including the one where you were trying to "trick" him by misspelling that word. He thought so and I think it's a weak ploy as well because pple misspell all the time.

Well it didn't come over with this reply, but as far as the "trick" IF you did really read the posting he had mentioned that he "almost" won a spelling be...so yes I spelled candle incorrectly I thought he would say something but he didn't so I questioned him on it, that is all it was. It obviously didn't bother him much as he dropped it, what I don't get is that you didn't.

And actually I asked KOTD about it too alot of ppl did, but the way you asked was more like you were making excusses for him.

Actually Ogre, there may be something to this Ice, Br, Dep thing you have...Br is new (obviously) in his post that bugged me he wrote that Ice and Dep are seem to be innocent. Now either he is witch (sounds funny calling a guy witch) and wants to make it look like he thinks they are innocent b/c he knows they are not (being on his team), or he is naming them as innocent knowing they really are and if he is burned we would think they are evil also thus taking 2 innocents when he is found to be witch. Honestly at that point when he named them as innocent, I don't think much had happened to actually come out and say I think so/so is innocent.

For the record, I am thinking our newb is witch, not sure on Dep or Ice at this point. Dep isn't posting much to judge on and Ice really seems like Ice to me throwing things out "just to see how others react". Then pouncing on them when they do.

No you are not the only one to notice this I did too, but I wasn't (and still am not) sure if he was truely "defending" or basicaly not wanting to go after a newb on day one. What actually bothers me a little more is his make sure everyone knows you and Ogre are "going after" a newb...that unsettled me a little there.

It is hard with newbs, you want to give them a chance to see if they are trying to get a feel for the game, or if they are truely bad, my feeling at this point on Brkd is evil simpley b/c of what he has posted..it doesn't have that "confused" feel to it that newbs normally have, more like he has been "coached" somewhat, IMO. And I just can't get that icky feeling of his post stating that "they both are seem innocent", I have done this when typing going to say one thing and think better and end up mixing them together, I believe he either knows they ARE or ARE NOT innocent whichever it is I think he KNOWS and that would mean he has to be witch.

Yes, Charlie I have fooled you before..just as you have fooled others before and anyone who has ever been on the bad side has fooled others too...but you have to play the role you are given. No, bluerat I wasn't meaning I think you planned it all along... I know this was your name before the game started. In past games Rb has put hints out there, but in those games I was evil I didn't pay attention really to what was said..this round I am trying to pick up on them. I'm not really sure this means you are a witch he could mean something completly differnt...but really it made sence IF he is throwing out hints, I really was hoping for a few opinions about it to see if others thought there was something to it or am I just over analizing (which I've been known to do a time or two:y220d: ).

Well, just checking in for the day. Doesn't look like a whole lot has happened since last night, more of the usual first-day maniacal suspicions. I want to laugh at the efforts to pull clues out of Rb's postings, but at the same time, having been in some of his games where he actually did throw in clues, I can't really blow them off. Anyway, I'm going along with the plantling vote for now, since there doesn't seem to be any solid reasoning for anything else as far as a first-day vote. I'll be watching most of the day so we'll see how this develops. I vote to burn plantling.

Ummmm guys and gals, before we get too carried away trying to decipher these clues, just realize that RB is not making these "clues" up. He's probably got a book of spells somewhere or is surfing the net for them. I found at least two on this site: http://www.debac.net/spells.htm

I find it odd that Ice professes to have studied Wicca and didn't mention that these were actually spells. The spell he used to justify voting for me was this:

"Invisibility" Spell
Chant this for an escape, if you just want to pass some unwanted presence, or just don't want to be seen. (Of course you won't really be invisible but more unnoticed).
"Cast of a shadow I am thee, make the one (s) who look, not see me.
I am thin air not to be seen, I am a shadow invisible both silent and lean."

For Ice to have stretched this spell into a plantling, it makes me believe he is quite desperate. The votes were tied at 2 himself,myself, judge, and Charlie, I believe, but he saw his chance to get out of it and jumped. Not only that, but I feel it's a revenge vote. "Clues" aside, reread my posts and see if I have indeed acted evil. I did make a list of my observations and did mention that it was just "some notes of interests" but I must have hit nerves because the first few votes on me are the very ones I had on my list. Things that make you go Hmmmmmm.

Ice's avatar is the eye of Sauron. Sauron is a shadow that cannot be seen as he has not yet been able to take on a body. Invisible and silent.

It's dumb, I know, but makes a whole lot more sense than a plantling.

My mistake here. It was Charlie who came to Ogres rescue.

Ok you had me really worried Ice because I hadn't said much if anything about Ogre.

Actually it was Ogre and Z, not Charlie that I pointed out are going after the newb.

Charlie is back to his old ways so I feel good about him.

Ogre was the Sheriff the last game he played and I almost lynched him, I'm going to lay off of him for now. He might be innocent and none of the clues point his way right now.

I only asked Brk what room he was hiding in, I can't figure out why you keep saying I was attacking him for that. Charlie and Ogre went after him much harder than I. As I said before I plan on giving both the nebs a day to get a feel for how they play, I do have Brk leaning Witch right now however. I am still neutral on bluerat because he just hasn't posted enough.

RE: Rb's "clues": I certainly see where you are coming from, but it seems a stretch even for Rb. Why would he give out the entire list of Witches on Day 1?

One last quick post

Looking at the clue posted by LG

Tail of rat- Blue is the only one with rat in name/no avatars with rat

Wing of Bat- DD and LG both have bats in their avatars

Kitty Cat - Z has one in his avatar but so does Plantling ( a witch holding a cat)

Take from it what you will, hopefully this helps us out some.
Jmax also has a bat flying in her background...she has been what I would consider a low poster also.

OMG, I didn't even catch that..I've been looking at his avatar trying to figure out what it was, wow good catch there plant., no it doesn't make you less suspisious to me right now, but it does make more sence for that IMO. But I think I like the "cat" better for you then Z at this point.

Maybe some telepathy is needed.....

Now any thoughts on this one? It is a telepathy "spell" with this one you are suppose to "see" anothers thoughts?

I retract my vote on KOTD. I vote to burn DC at the stake. I have to agree with Lady G that the fact BrkD may have slipped up is notable. I am concerned that DC has not posted much and his only effort at a post since his name was mentioned was an excuse with some typos to say he was drunk. I think he's a much more likely candidate at this time for a witch than KoTD who I still think has a destiny with evil due to all the 13's :P

I was drinking and watching football from 1 pm until I posted last night, thanks. I really have no reason to play around like I want to trick people so badly. Let's get real here. Sway, you've been after me every game for the same reason and when you finally get me killed you find out I was innocent and then say some silly thing like, "oh I read him wrong." Well it's time for you to stop reading me wrong and look for real suspects. I'm gonna go after JM since we've gotten very little from her since the slip was pointed out. Sorry I was busy out having a life, apparently you actually get crucified in this game for it.

I vote to burn JM at the stake.

I do agree this could mean that we were voting in the wrong direction at that point. But then that would also mean that Brkd is not witch, I'm not sure I accept that right now. Besides him none of the ones on this list look suspisious at this point to me, yes I know I teased Sploke some in the begining, but really that is all it was then "teasing" him nothing more. Plant did read more into it then that and I believe the only to mention it since.
