We have had our JD's for a quite a while. They have produced several spawns since Easter. Here is the problem:

The JD's have split the school of fry. Each has a large mass on either end of the tank and are now brooding/protecting them from the other. I have never seen this before. The female has started grabing fry from the male to take to her side of the tank. As you can imagine this isn't sitting well.

They have never done this before, the two have been protective parents and have worked together until now.

Tank parameters are good, nothing new has happened.

Has anyone ever seen this in their own tanks? Suggestions? I think we may have to separate them.

very interesting. i guess humans aren't the only creatures that have to deal with custody disputes. good luck, i hope someone has seen this before and can give you some insight into what to expect.
