I know its very common to have guppy fry but it is the first time that my two guppies have given birth, i'am a tropical fish beginner and have only had my tank a few months. I was delighted this morning when i looked in the tank and noticed 12 baby guppies. Can you give me any advice to help rear the fry? i'am feeding them livebearer food and keeping them in a breeding tank and i have now released the mum. Many thanks

What else do you have in the tank?

have noticed the guppy fry I have like to hang near the surface.. if you have some floating plants they can hide in, they would probably appreciate it, and depending on the other inhabitants of the tank, increase the survivability. I feed mine just finly crushed flake food that the adults get, they seem to be fine with that.. unless of course my Ghost shrimp have recently released young, then they eat that as well.

rather simple, make the tank really planted and put 1 male with like 7 females.
after a month or 2, just shake take the plants away and you'll see a lot of fry around.
at least that's what i did.

floating plants are good but have the whole tank heavily planted, not necessarily live plants just tons of plants so the fry have places to hide.

wrap some panty hose around the intake to the filter so they don't get sucked up.
