I bought some ehfifix this weekend instead of the fluval prefilter (Thought it had more surface area etc.) I stuffed it in both sides of my bottom media tray. I noticed a good drop in output from the filter. I expect this as before all that was in the filter was carbon and biomax, however is this bad for the pump? and is there such a thing as "stuffing" to much into a tray?

is there such a thing as "stuffing" to much into a tray? Yes

Any time flow is restricted this puts back pressure on your pump which means the pump has to work harder to pump the water which will greatly reduce its life expectancy.

Remove some of the media asap.

I would suggest the pre-filter sort of stuff. .. .. ..
Plus since it won't compact, it will not drastically reduce your flow rate.

I think I agree with you there. I opened up my canister today and the ehfifix is just rediculous to work with. I was pulling strings off the kitchen floor for 20 mins and even after that i was stepping on it all night. boo.

Next time I open up the filter I will definitly have some pre filter media to replace it.
