In my 10 gallon all I have so far is 2 pairs of (hopefully breeding) guppies. What kind of fish could I put to control diatom growth? In my 30 gallon I have a rubber lipped pleco (he does a great job) but I would also like some variety of my fish.

10 gallon AGA
18" 15 watt flourescent (sorry increasing light intensity isn't an option)
Fake plants (for now, planning to go live in weeks)
7.2 PH
0 Ammonia
0 Nitrites

Do Cories or Otto's consume diatoms? or would it be best to stick with plecos?

Thanks for the help!

Otos consume diatoms, but I think they won't fare well ffor long in an unplanted aquarium. (I haven't tried keeping them in an unplanted tank myself.)

so do you think I would be okay with a rubber-lipped pleco? how about cories? I am open to either as long as the pleco wont get too big for my 10 g.

PS forgot to say I have a SAND substrate

i think the otos will do ok. i have kept them pretty succesfully in unplanted tanks. you will probably need to use some algae or spirulina tablets now and then, and i'm sure fresh foods would work excellently as well.

good luck
