I just built me the DIY CO2 reactor, using the basic method 1/2 full 2-liter bottle of warm water, 2 cups of sugar, 1 spoon of yeast, and waited about an hour and half the put it to the test. It took about 5 mins. for it to start making bubbles but it is now an hour later its making alot of small bubbles...is this normal? Did I do something wrong?:help:

Help anyone?

sounds about right. Should expect bubbles within 1-2 hours, sometimes sooner. Im doing the same thing and it was such a relief to see it start bubbling. It looks like its starting to pay big dividends too. Cobomba is growing like a weed at like a 1/4" each day, even night and the java fern is shooting out new leaves.

I don't know, the 1 spoon of yeast seems a bit much. I don't have a 2 liter set up, but I'm thinking 1/2 a tsp would be a good start. It doesn't need to be "fizzing" like an air pump would do with an airstone. What are you using to disperse it? Bubble ladder, bubble wand...?

the regular airstone...i got it off of bigals online.

1 teaspoon provides alot of CO2 in a short burst really, 1/4-1 teaspoon works from what I read, all depends on how much CO2 you want.

I have found that using an airstone that provides alot of resistance is best when trying to get small bubbles. Smaller the bubbles, less chance of them not dissolving.

how would you add it to the filter intake? Move the airstone right beside the intake?
