ok i have no choice but to use the crappy heater that came with my 10 gal setup, i hate to use it becuse its not very good at keeping a steady temp. now my question is this i have lost the little suction cup with the little clip on it and i was wondering it says "fully submersible" on the heater it's self. now does that mean i can have the control knob under the water and it will do no harm or what? thanks.

yes, you can have the knob under water. But don't let the heater touch any decorations or the substrate in the tank. It can heat up what ever its touching and crack the heater. You can buy or order replacement suction cups, but for the price you could probably buy a new reliable heater.

I agree with J_Chicago... just don't let it touch anything. I bought new suction cups at Big Al's for $2 or $3 but had to pay for shipping, too b/c there isn't a store near me.
