Any recommended tankmates for oscars I have a 75 gallon tank and are looking for tankmates for 2 small oscars I am buying.

oscars get big - up to 14" or more. i don't think you will find many people recommending tankmates, as a 75g tank is good for two oscars, and not much else. the only thing you may be able to add is a small group of giant danios as dithers. otherwise, 2 oscars in a 75g is the limit.

dithers in an oscar tank = dinners in an oscar stomach.

2 oscars in a 75g is PLENTY of fish. sure, it seems sparse now.. wait about 9 months, till they start growing an inch a month, and you'll see that they'll fill the tank out nicely.

Buy a Striped Raphael Catfish. They make great clean up crews for an Oscar plus they are too spiny to get eaten.

As already stated by others above, I wouldn't recommend getting more fish. My personal opinion is that 2 oscars in a 75g is already pushing it. Personally, I would prefer only 1 in a 75 g. But that's just me. They may be small now but you'd be surprised at how quickly they'd grow huge. My friend's oscar grew 8 inches in 6 months.

Good luck with the oscars.

A male convict should work. They can hold their own against an oscar and should get along with the oscar in a 75g tank.

We got a 1.5" oscar in mid-August and he is already 5.5-6". We just moved him to a 72BF and gave him a 2.5" green terror as a tankmate -- with a good hiding spot. He picked on the GT for a few days, but they are now getting along pretty good -- the GT stays out and they swim around together but knows the oscar is "boss"...I agree with khombre about 1 oscar in a tank that size, but I lost the argument, so if we have to bump up our tank size later, we will. Anyways, if you are already planning on 2 oscars, I would not add anything else!
