I was looking in my tank, as usual, and I found what looks like a tiny serpent or brittle star!

I was pretty excited.. I love finding new live in my tank!

I have a single serpent star.. Is it possible it asexually reproduced? Otherwise, I'm guessing it was a hitchhiker on the small polyp covered rock I bought.. Either way, I think it's pretty cool...

It also appears that after months of waiting, my single mushroom is about to split.. Does this appear the case? I was gonna frag it, but I'll wait til it finishes the split to start cutting him up...

Judging by the size of the brittle, its very possible it came in as a hitch hiker...its pretty small from what i can tell..

Any chance of a close up of the shroom so we can see it better please..

Niko

Here's a closer pic of the shroom(s), and the polyps I think my star migrated in on... I'm still waiting for the polyps to open up all the way!

I threw in a pic of the rest of the tank, just 'cause!

Micro brittles are so "cute" aren't they? Always a nice find, I got at least one of them on a shell with some palys a local reefer gave me. Speaking of which, is something bothering your polyps or were they newly placed in the tank in that photo?

well..the shroom is deffinatly splitting...

The polyps dont look happy at all..has their location changed or something around them?

Niko

P.S ....edited the pic so its more pleasing on the eye...lol... ;)

hows your lighting, from my experince i have a hard time getting those particular polyps to open unless the light is good. mine never opened all the way. so i gave it to a client who has halides and not only did they open but they cloned alot as well

Cute stars :) Micro stars are my favorite common hitchhiker.

lol Niko, I like your edit job. It took me a while to find out what was edited xD

I have a Coralife Lunar Aquatics PC light..
As for the polyps, my pain in the @$$ fish wouldn't leave it alone on top of the rocks; they kept knocking it off! I had to locate it to a safe place, but it is quite new in the tank.. Maybe a week, but undisturbed for less than 2 days.. A few of them open a bit every night, but none all the way yet.. I can't put it on the right side rocks, for fear of my condy anemone not liking it..

Love the edit, by the way... NO, I still haven't gotten the doors built yet.. Sheesh...
