im a complete noob as to plants. i want something that will make my tank beautiful but wont completely take over. plz post suggestions and be sure to add a pic of the plants. oh and will my pleco eat them?

You should post your lighting and substrate specification in order to receive a concrete help.
Many beautiful plants need medium or high light, others not. The same is for substrate: it should be useful you post height, quality (is it fertilized?), size of the gravel, etc...

Yeah and the bitter taste may deter Pleco munching. If pleco is well fed, that also will make your pleco not much plants.

My pleco doesn't touch any of my plants. I have hygro, java ferns, anubias, and ludwigia. He does clean the algae off of them. :) I do feed him occasionally.

its easy to google them. what size of tank do you have? what kind of lighting do you have? how much of that lighting do you have such as watts?

im not getting them yet. when i get my 55 gal then ill know what kind of lighting i have.
