I had just got a new 55 gallon, while i already have a 75 for the jack when i get him, also do they live as long as oscars or what?

Used to have my 55 with american cichlids. Started with 4 cons and at one point had 27 3"+ adults in the tank. I guess you can say I had a colony of convicts.
you could probably keep a pair of cons with your jack in the 75 and use the 55 for something else
I think you could get away with 2 breeding pair in a well decorated lots of hiding places 55.
But what are you going to do with all those fry!
There should be enough room for 1 pair to keep a safe distance from the pair with fry.
