Clearing Copper (Protozin) from water prior to shimps going in ... How?

Hi

I have some shrimp due to arrive next week and want to make sure that my setup will be healthy for them...

I have used Waterlife's Protozin in the past month, and it apparently contains copper. Once copper is in the tank, does it somehow get processed of its own accord, or, becuase it's an element, do I need to do something to clear copper residues from the water - to bind it/remove it somehow?

(I have done largish water changes. Just not sure if this is sufficient if shrimp are sensitive to it.)

Thanks.

Do you have copper test kit? You'll need it to determine if any traces are still stuck. Removal can be done by plenty of water changes or water conditioners that bind heavy metals.

The next time you use meds containing copper, do it in a hospital tank, not main tank unless you do not plan to keep invertebrates.

It's about 75l.

Yikes, I just read the consignment update and my shrimp are actually due within a few hours! I wasn't expecting them until next week. I've done a pre-shrimp water change with a large amount of Aquasafe instead of my usual Prime, followed by carbon to clear...um, whatever else might be there!

(I wonder if everyone else gets this excited about their first shrimp?:woot:)

OK, they have arrived, acclimatised*, and they're in! I'll see how they go...

Amazing how much the fish ignore them. You'd think they'd be a fun-sized snack, but for some reason, no.

*For Americans, that's "acclimated" :)
