Man.

I was looking at my tank after work yesterday, and everything looked great.

I come back in the room about 20 minutes later and everything looks great, but somethings missing.

Finally I realize my flame back is nowhere to be seen...and he's not bashful.

So, I keep looking, and I think my anemone is so friggin big now, maybe he got himself a good meal...but he doesn't look all retracted like he would if he ate a fish the size of a silver dollar.

So I look, I look, and I find him....


On the floor under the back of the tank.

DAMNIT!

That lil fella had to jump up and go out through a 3/8 inch slot between my tank and my HOB fuge.

Couldn't have jumped in the fuge, eh, lil buddy?

I have no idea.

I did like the fish, but then the increased feeding with no skimmer resulted in some new algae growth (or at least that's what I attribute it to)...

So, I don't know...wasn't really expecting to lose any fish like this.

That fish was cool, too, because it swam everywhere...it was always around, spreading color. The clowns are cool, but they pretty much hover around their BTA. The chromies are alright, but they pretty much stay in one spot until food is out, too.

So...not sure...not sure at all.
 
It's an unfortunate truth that fish aren't all that smart, so these things happen from time to time. Sorry for your loss.
 
Yeah, sucks. The guy was new enough that I wasn't 100% attached to him yet, but the whole QTing thing is a pain in the butt, and buying a new fish, even a $40 fish turns out to be an expensive pain in the buttocks.
