I'm planning my new tank and would like to get a carpet of riccia, so I'm looking for stones to tie the glosso to. doesn't really matter what they look like since they will be covered in riccia. as long as they are inert and can be found at a DYI box store.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jason

Menards or Lowes, Home depot. Pond pebbles in a bag. 4 bucks for 50 lbs.

Go around your neighborhood and pick up stones that look nice. Spots near ponds/lakes usually have lots.

I'm not sure that I would trust anything I pull out of Lake Michigan or the Chicago River.
Didn't know pond stones were so cheap, I'll pick some up when I get the wood for the stand.
What about lava rock used for landscaping? would think that would be cheap too.

Thanks
Jason

These rocks are like 1 1/2 inches. If I remember right they are the "Vigor" brand. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=131608-78212-131608&lpage=none

Small pieces of lava rock don't sink as they are extremely porous and full of air. Larger stones will, but for the most part, the small landscaping ones do not.
