Recently I learned about the sex of silver dollars, or started to learn. In the 55 gal tank we bought that came with fish, there is a huge silver dollar fish, and he has a red fin....That is the sign that it is a male from what I have learned, I just hope it's right. Anyways, the silver dollar is about 5-6 inches across from nose to tail. Included when Jeremy and I bought the tank was two smaller silver dollars, about two to three inches in length from nose to tail. We realized that with the smaller once we had one with a slight red fin and one with no red fin, that was how we figured that we had multi sex silver dollars....anyways, with the tank becoming cloudy we lost three fish. The first was a smaller silver dollar, with the slightly red fin. Now we have the larger silver dollar with a red fin and a smaller silver dollar without a red fin...now that the smaller male (if I am right) died, would the bigger silver dollar possibly like to breed with the smaller female silver dollar? The smaller ones were pals (once the tank clears up we are thinking about buying another smaller silver dollar for the one in our tank to have, hoping they become friends)....
I was just curious. I hope not honestly. ;)
