Hi. I posted awhile ago how I wanted to get a green spotted puffer. I have my new tank fully cycled and am looking at pet stores to see which ones have the healthiest looking GSP. At one pet store the GSP had ick. At the other they all were huddled down near the plants hiding. Another pet store didn't have any plants in the tank and there were all sorts of fish in the tank. But the GSP were moving about.

I have also found some figure eight puffers.

Now, is it normal for the puffers to hide at the bottom of the tank? They would eventually get up and swim some, but then go back to their hiding space. I just want to make sure I get healthy puffers.

What is the difference between GSP and the figure 8?

Thanks!

the puffers should be constantly moving around stopping only at night to sleep, maybe after eating a large meal. They should also not be dark colours. The best way to tell you're getting a good GSP is through bright defined colours and if they've got lots of energy.
