i have been looking for filter media for my pond filter...being its a 100 litre bin....can i use blue metal gravel or somthing like that

IMO, the best media for ANYTHING you can stuff media into is the plastic pot scrubbies. They do a great job of mechanical and biological filtration, which is the only type of filter you need. I rinse mine when there is like 1/4" of mulm on them.

lot of people use lava rocks too. filter floss is nice.....

Pot scrubbers have more surface area and that would make them a better bio filter. You could do potscrubbers with a layer of polyfil on top for mechanical/biological filtration.

i agree. on a side note, i just bought a huge bag of polyfill for $3 at walmart, its inexpensive and does a good job polishing the water.
