I HAVE A 55G WITH 7 AFRICANS IN IT AND THE SUBSTRAIGHT IS CRUSHED CORAL AND GRAVEL. I TESTED MY HIGH RANGE PH YESTERDAY AND IT WAS AT 8.8. IS THAT TWO HIGH. HOW DO I LOWER IT IF IT IS TWO HIGH.

That is getting pretty high - crushed coral is probably not a good thing to have - at least not too much of it. Did you use a liquid test kit or a strip?

If your tapwater's pH is that high, you may have to introduce an acidic buffer to control your pH. If your tapwater is close to neutral pH (6-8), do ~20% daily PWCs to bring pH down to that range.

Tapwater pH readings should be taken after a sample has sat out for a few hours, particularly if it has lots of chlorine in it.

PS - it appears that your CapsLock key is stuck.

8.8 is a bit high, and i'm willing to bet the crushed coral substrate is the culprit. try changing it over a period of time, and i bet your pH will come back down to a normal level.

How long has the tank been established and what is your normal water change routine?

What kind of "africans" do you have?

It has been established for about a week and a half now. I have been changing every 3 or 4 days about 25%. I added the crushed coral right after my last water change. I have 2 Placidochromis Jalo Reef, 2 Labidichromis Careulus Albino and 3 Aulonocara Stuartgranti Mkondowe, 1 pictus and 1 bala shark

My understanding is that CC will only dissolve to a certain pH is this not correct?

I agree with the others, check your tap pH. Let it sit out in a cup for 24 hours then check it. If your pH is normally that high then driftwood or peat will help lower it. I wouldn't use CC as a substrate in either case. Traps to much gunk IMO.
