I am considering 4x65 PC lighting hood with built in fans. I have seen that there are optional mounting legs. I assume the legs are to raise the light above the glass to reduce heat and increase airflow around the bulbs. Is this necessary/recommended? Does this reduce the lighting in the tank?

Thanks,
Eric

If you are putting a pc fixture over glass tops I would advise using the legs to give you some airflow between the bulbs and the glass. I've cracked a glass top by putting a pc fixture (with no legs) on top of the glass tops.
