I have 2 angels in a 20 gallon tank. One is about silver $ (the coin, not the fish) size and the other is slightly larger. How can I tell the difference sex wise between males and females? Please exp;ain in the easiest to understand way. Thanks

The only way is when they are in spawning condition. Males have ovipositors positioned forward and pointed at the tip whereas females have them positioned backward and round on the tip. That's how I at least observed with my own angels last time they spawned.;)

Other indicators that people claim are not totally reliable.

You can sometimes tell when the female fills with eggs. Her belly will be wider than the male's. It's nowhere near as reliable as the ovipositors.

the females ovipositor(breeding tube) is short , thick and blunt.
the males is thin and long.

there are no other distinguishing characteristics that separate the sex. at least that are reliable.
