Looking for white sand to use for my next aquarium. The best I can find at the moment is Quickrete All-purpose sand. Any use it? It looks a bit on tanish side when wet though.

I have found play sand at lowes but it is yellowish. Not sure on pool sand as I haven't been to a pool place yet.

pool sand is probably your best bet

i personally like the Tahiti moon black sand, have you considered it?

You really cant say X brand of sand since it varies by region. The sand in my Quickrete All-Purpose Sand bags at my Lowes are going to be different than those at your Lowes. The pool filter sand here is a tan color. As long as its silica/quartz based it shouldnt effect your water chem and the grain size and color is up to you. Just remember the very fine stuff may compact, I'd try to go medium to coarse, I think in the range of .5mm-2mm is ideal for most situations. Good luck.

go figure...go to the pool place...it closed down. now gotta find another place.

What about this....

I found a pool store...but couldn't see the bag until after I paid for it (they have it in a storage shed out back)

Not sure about this as it appears it is quartz. Definately not white.

Any thoughts?
