Alright this is a puzzle beyond me and my friend danny:) Danny bought a "Flowerhorn" from petsmart.... pic below...

And then I see this from cichlid scene....

This led me to belive that the flowerhorn was a trimac... BUT THEN I look on Gordeez's site and I see a "flowerhorn"

http://www.gordeez.com/062803008.jpg

So now I am thinking it is a flowerhorn again.... but I am not sure... Any ideas?

i never could tell the diff between a f.H. and a trimac.
since the f.h is a trimac crossed with something else, the crossing produces some that are more trimacky than others.

what is the fish they cross the trimac with?

i thought the popularity of the f.h. was because some guy bred one where the black splotches looked like chinese characters. so what do the splotches say? "eat more chicken" ? "change the water"?

They are crossed with a bunch of different things, synspilum, festae, carpintis and midas to name a few. Check out flowerhornusa.com, crazy fish.

Flowerhorns took off because some chinese guy won the lottery on numbers based on the markings his fish had. They are wildly popular over there.

They are supposed to be hyper aggressive, Gordeez had to separate his from his Midas! That has got to be one agressive fish.

Here...I saw this Trimac in predatorcichlid's site. I tend to believe him more :P After all, he has 16 years of experience in cichlid.

As for flowerhorn, you can find that in www.flowerhorn.com

It is hard to tell the differences between Trimac and Flowerhorn. I usually look for the humps and redness on Flowerhorn. However, there are all kinds of FH. I've seen one FH that is purple color with black stripes. Again, if you want to see all kinds of FH...go to the site :)
