I'm kinda stealing this from SW, and there may already be one in cichlids. I would like to hear some home made recipies for cichlid food. African or American, doesn't matter. I would like to hear some made from from products that the everyday fishkeeper would have in the house.

I have made food a couple of times using recipes more as a guideline, I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't have a recipe.
When I want to make food I start freezing vegetable scraps (ends of carrots, zucchini, cukes, lettuce, stuff like that) until I have a good amount saved up. If I happen to have sea food that has acceptable scraps (not too fatty, will be able to be blended, all my fish have small mouths) I save those too. Last time I did this I didn't have any meaty food to add so I went to the grocery store and bought some frozen squid, smelt and shrimp (most of the shrimp ended up being fed to me). I add gelatin for frozen food or starch for dry food (evaporating dry food is best done in the garage or while the house is empty). That might give you an idea of how to do it cheaply. You may end up buying stuff but if you save scraps you can save money too...
