Well when I got home yesterday night my filters were making an awful screeching sound? What is wrong with them, both of my filters are doing it, ac30 and like ac55 or something like that

Can't tell if there's anything in it. I didn't know you were suppose to clean them so I haven't. So how do I clean it?

I don't think so. I wasn't home when it started it but I doubt the power went out.

Can somebody please tell me how to clean the impeller or something. The filter has been off for a few days now, I couldn't post about it until yesterday because I haven't been home. I really need 2 fix them

uh oh flap! do you have something running on the tank? if not its likely your bacteria are dying. To clean the impellor, remove the intake tube and look down the hole. You will see a little round looking thing. Pull it out (this is your impellor) and clean around it with a q-tip. Flush out the housing and replace. Good luck! Hope this helps!

To clean an AC impeller well tou will need a narrow filter brush.

1. Turn off the filter.
2. Remove media basket (you may as well clean the media too).
3. Remove the filter from the tank and dump the water.
4. Twist of the motor assembly to detach it from the filter box.
5. Remove the impeller from the well.
6. Use a brush to clean the impeller. Check the shaft around/below the blade for any plant matter, especially java moss, twisted around the shaft.
7. Use the brush to clean out the impeller well.
8. Reassemble the filter and return it to the tank.

Always use dechlorinated or tank water to clean filters and media as chlorine/chloramine kills nitrifying bacteria.

what 2 tanks said.
the ac's are easy to clean.. I had a power outtage and one of mine didn't restart.. I took the opportunity to clean it and it was fine.(not to worry I have a 660r powering a rfug so i have plenty of bio filtration.

sludge will accumulate in the impellar housing...so it does need to be cleaned every once in awhile.
