I deeply appologize, but when I was checking with the lfs about proper packaging for shipping, I found out that I cannot ship live snails without a permit. I double checked with USDA APHIS and it is true..... I am sorry...

yes you do for some snails
http://www.eauth.egov.usda.gov/

So far, I've applied and been approved for level one access at the USDA eAuthentication site. (www.eauth.egov.usda.gov) Now I have to go to my local USDA office, who by the way thought it was HYSTERICAL that I wanted a snail shipping permit, and give them my drivers license so they can make sure I am who I say I am. That will give me level 2 access to the site.

You do for pomacea bridgesii, aka mystery snails or brigs. For common ponds, ramshorns and MTS you don't. Pomacea canaliculata, aka apple snails or canas, can't be shipped between states at all. I don't think Marisas or Columbian Ramshorns can either, but not sure on that. I don't keep them because they eat plants so I'm not up on them.

i applied ages ago but the stupid office is so far away from me.

I read that from that website that you also need a permit to ship common Apple snails. - Pomecea Brigesii. I just got a shipment of them today. No sign of any special number or anything on the box.

So you can ship red rams and trumpets without a permit?

According to what I read on the aphis website, all snails require a permit, unless they are dead. Apple snails require a special permit, more documentation (where they came from, collection site, etc) and have greater restrictions.... yada, yada, yada.

I do not have time to go and apply for a permit to ship snails - I appologize to anyone who wanted snails. I work in the ministry and cannot in good conscience do something that I know is illegal.
