Hello,
I currently have an African setup, Oceanic 135 with a
large sump and Flistar xp4, super tank no probs.
I saw an eel at Armke's called Aethiomastacembelus
elipsifer or Tang. "leopard eel", and wondered if anyone
has any experience with this cool looking fish?

Let me know what you all know about this, thanks in
advance, FG.

I don't know about the fish, but don't you mean a Filstar xp3? They don't make an xP4, or at least not to my knowledge.

Try www.google.com under "Aethiomastacembelus' --note that "e" for the various Rift Lake spiny eels.

Hello,
Yes Devil's fan, an xP3, just a typo.

Wetman, I am familiar about a few types of spiny
eels from Malawi and have only heard of the one
from Lake Tang. yesterday, which I know is also
related to the ones of Malawi.

I wondered if anyone has kept these interesting
eels in their tanks?

Thanks again, FG.

theres an article in the april or march issue of aquarium fish magazine that covers it and other types of eels that's pretty informative. You could try ordering the issue through their website.

I wish there was an xP4, it would be cool.

IMO Tropical Fish is more detailed, in-depth, more book-like in it's look and Aquarium Fish could be read by any age, any level of knowledge and is more colorful, more ......what is that word I'm looking for......???? Anyway, they are both good magazines and both have great articles.

Sorry, I meant to write this as a new thread, not in this one.
