OK, following an internal parasite outbreak that wiped out 4 angels, 4 rams and 2 flags and 1 cory i'm now looking at my SA setup for stocking...

I have pictus, a raphael, some pepper cories and a bristlenose (i know messy so and so's but i've plenty of filtration on it)

So I was thinking along the lines of Apistos and a pair of discus, or 5 discus and saying bye bye to mr angel (back to the lfs)

Thoughts?

Can't have just 2 discus, 5 would be excellent!! I know the cories and bristlenose are fine with discus, don't know anything about pictus and raphael with discus though. Only thing missing is some rummynose tetras!!

I love angels..it's a tough choice to choose between angels and discus.

I do keep angels with discus tho.(it's a combination that is more common than many may know)

but if you are going to keep discus . better to have them in the company of other discus..(they do so well in groups)

Urau will get too big for the tank IMO.

50 gallons and 5 discus? Discus get up to 8 inches long.

ok, so i've heard general rule of thumb is one discus per 10G?

Any opinions on the Pictus, another (UK based) webste I use reckons pictus should not be kept with Discus?

Yes, Nick. I wouldn't try pictus catfish with them with their level of activity.

I would not do the pictus.

The 50 gal may provide the required volume for 5 discus, but a groups that size looks awesome as they glide around which is why I prefer 75 and up, 4-6 foot tanks.
