I've been treating a Panda Cory with fungus and he is probably 90% better, however there is still a little on him. The treatment, according to the directions, should be over tomorrow.

Should I continue to add the meds to his tank until I don't see any fungus? If I keep up the treatment longer than recommended, will it harm the fish?

Which are you using? Pimafix or Melafix, or both?

Also, keep in mind both of these are very weak treatment methods.

Lastly, any fungal infections are typically associated with poor water conditions and usually only infect stressed fish (weakend and/or injured).

Kepe up the quality of your water, and this alone will help rid the infection in most cases.

Both, as the title of the post suggests and thanks for the suggestions........

I'll try again.

Should I keep up the treatment after the 7 days or up, or should I stop.

As I understand these treatments, Melafix is a bacterial and wound healing aid, whereas Pimafix is more designed for fungal infections. I do, however, think I rememeber reading a while ago about these being used in conjuntion...?

Frankly there are better meds out there, but continuing this treatment should be okay IF you continue to see daily progress! Both of the products are notorous for either being sucessful or not (never semi-effective in my travels).

I would certainly keep up on the water changes and deep gravel vacs as this will ensure a healthy environment for the fiosh to heal.

You can try another "round" of treatments, but if the symptoms are not being resolved I would consider a more thorough and effective treatment.

BTW - What type of ailment is on your Cory? How long have you had him, water specs, how is the 'fungus' doing, are other fish affected, tank cycled, etc.?
