It's been about a month since my Apistos last had fry. I figured they had all been eaten as they slowly disappeared.

About a week ago I noticed a very small fish swimming around. Upon closer inspection I noticed it was a baby Apisto Cacatoides, not even a quarter of an inch long. I hadn't seen him since and thought he had been eaten, but I just spotted him again today. :)

Here is a blurry pic:

Here is a picture of just the mother fish:

And finally a pic of the male looking kinda sad:

Good job with the baby:) very cute. The dad is really pretty, I was thinking of getting some apisto caucatoides(sp?) but decided to get some rams instead. I wish i would have chosen the apistos:rolleyes:

Thanks Valerie. I'm really happy with these fish. I'll have to post some better pics of the male when I get one I'm happy with. He's much more attractive when his fins are all puffed up.

Molino, nice pics! I almost missed them!
What water parameters do those fish need? They look great!

80gJoe, Most apistos prefer slightly neutral to acidic water conditions. These ones though (Cacutuoides) are able to stand higher Ph than most. Mine are in Ph of about 7 or 7.2 and temp of about 80F.
