OK, it's Friday night, after a long and stressful week and a half with my dad hospitalized, but he's home now. So....I finally can take a little bit of time to sit back and watch and enjoy my discus. YEAH RIGHT! Among my discus I have two pairs. A pair of white butterflies (WB) who spawn pretty regularly so the male can have instant caviar. And a pair made up of a male blue & red leopard snakeskin (LSS) and a female electric dreams (ED) who have spawned and gotten wrigglers every week for the last 9 weeks. The tank is pretty peaceful with the LSS & ED pair constantly fanning eggs on their end of the tank. Right now no one has a spawn. But the whole stinking tank has gone hormonal! Right now I have four females in the corner of the tank with the male WB! We have female WB, the ED from the other pair, a second ED female not quite full grown and a white leopard female not quite full grown. Meantime, in the other end of the tank, the other LSS I have that I thought was a male is shimmying up to the big LSS from the pair. This leaves one other unknown sex white leopard odd fish out with no interest in all this craziness, just trying to duck and keep out of the way. All of a sudden my big piece of malaysian driftwood looks like a huge fish spear as they bump and bang and chase and jostle for the males attention. I'm holding my breath hoping that one of them doesn't bang into the driftwood. I need to turn the tank light off, this is too stressful that some fish is going to really get hurt. What's up with the swappy, switch-er-roo going on in there. Are my pairs getting divorced????
