I have a 55g hex that laying around and I want to put some dwarf cichlids in it. How many can I have in it that will live comfortable? Can I have more than one species? This is what I want to start with:

Apistogramma bittaeniata
Apistogramma Cacatuoides
Apistogramma agassizi
Apistogramma hongsloi Rotstrich

Anybody see any conflicts?

I have in my tank the following Cichlids:

Pair of Nanochromis Transvestitus "if you look them up there like smaller kribs"
Pair of Apistogramma agassizi
Pair of Apistogramma hongsloi

Two pairs of Bolivan Ram & One pair of Thomasi Dwarf Cichlids.

I've puchased them at different point over the past two year the only trouble was with the Rams going for my non cichlid fish brought a baby pair and everything stop but at present both sets of Apistogramma's and Transvestitus are trying to nest so there standing there ground but most of the time they get on quite well.

I hope that this might help, but I would recommend to have a look at the Transvestitus fish the reason for this is they where trying to breed within the first 24hrs and are still trying to find there nesting spot.

Lots of plants and hidding spots have a look at the pictures I post a while ago on this site.

to have more than one species that occupy the same zone of the tank..make sure you have a large enough footprint.
these are afterall.. cichlids and there may be aggression .
the problem with most hex tanks..small foot print relative to the volume.
