Like several other threads, I'm trying to identify my cories. I have 2 small (about 1 inch) cories which were sold as julii, however I've come to believe they are probably c. trilineatus. I bought 3 more from another store which I thought were the same kind. However, having gotten them home and compared them, I don't believe they are the same species. The newer ones are larger, about 1 1/2 inch (which does not make me think they're different species, just a fact about them). Their snouts are much longer, not snubbed looking. In looking at planetcatfish, I think they may be c. leopardus.

Any thoughts?

I am attaching pictures. I apologize for the blurriness, I am still learning to take decent pictures of my fish. The first picture is what I think is the leopard, the second is the trili.

Hmm...the top 1 looks to me like a trili with lines on the head & round face. The bottom 1 looks maybe like a julii with spots on the head, too blurry. Leopardus seems more spotty all over with a different body shape but age, individual variation & photo clarity can make it hard to tell.

The top one is aTrilie. Julies have much smaller spots (and only spots) on head.

The second one has a longer snout---Gomezii?? Maybe a Leopardus??

Top is a Trili, the bottom one...are you able to get a clearer shot of the face please?

Okay, the pics above were reversed from what I thought. Anyway, I have attempted to take a better shot of cory #2. I have also added yet another cory who doesn't match the others. He has no dorsal spot. Thanks for sharing your opinions everyone.

The top one looks like C. gomezi (http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=478)to me. The bottom looks like C. sodalis (http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=120).

I agree on both. :thm:

So what are the differences between c. leopardus and c. gomezi?

I also asked the identity of these guys over at planetcatfish. Someone thought #2 was c. leopardus and agreed that #3 was c. sodalis.

Doesn't really matter of course because I think they're great no matter what they're names. I am having quite a time keeping catfish alive though. Don't know why as my parameters are great (0,0 and about 5). Will keep trying to figure that problem out though.

Thanks for your opinions

Based on pics on Planetcatfish, Leopardus have more of a swiggly pattern while Gomezi have more defined spots. There are a couple pictures of Leopardus that have very small defined spots though.....so not sure about those.
