I bought this off of a reefer and didn't get the proper or common name for this coral. Anybody know? I think it's a chalice of some sort.

Oxypora spp. is about as specific as I can get. I am with you on the color morphs, Grins. The same applies to all the zoanthids and such, as well. I don't even bother with those odd names.
 
Has to be reasonably close, because it is well-focused in relation to the piece-that is tempting fate. I can't speak for Tom, though.
 
Yes, but!!! I found a setting on my camera that has great depth of field and even though it seems like the bta is at most 1/16th inch away from the helpless chalice, it's actually about 1/4" away and with the 5 powerheads blasting water from every angle, I really don't see a problem:rolleyes:

Seriously, thanks guys. I didn't even notice the proximity problem. I'll move it tomorrow when the lights come back on. Can't believe I missed that.
