Well, I might (hopefully) have a chance to pickup an entire 35G setup for free tomorrow.

The setup comes with: 35G Tank, All equipement, VHO Lighting, Yellow Tang, Clownfish, 20lbs of live sand, 20lbs of live rock, 1 or 2 soft corals

My problem lies in the move. The drive is about 30mins-45mins away. I would love to have some suggestions on how to make the move as smooth as possible. And also, how to limit a cycle from happening?

I prepared 20G of saltwater tonight just in case and also cleaned out some rubbermaids (large size).

Containers with lids or deeper than the water needs to be buckets. One for the rock, one for the corals and one for the fish (is the tang going in your 125?) Since you already have a marine tank I'd not keep the water except for what you need in the above containers for transport and I'd ditch the sand as well. If you are keeping it, it will probably be fine staying in the tank since it is a small one. It is a short drive, not any longer than going to some local LFS and I'd not worry about equipment running for stock during the move. Just tend to them first when you get back home.

You are likely to get a mini cycle when you set back up but it should be relatively short if the tank was well run before and the rock is established.

So I shouldn't bag the fish? I have two large rubbermaids and a very large bucket so hopefully that should be plenty for all livestock. I am preparing more water right now.

I am not sure about the sand. I will have to see what kind of substrate he had. I might do a mixture since he mentioned that he had lots of great sandbed creatures. It would be nice to use it to seed.
