I have a 29g planted community tank. I'm thinking about adding a pair of angelfish. I have 3 young tiger barbs in the tank which is the only potential problem I see. The tiger barbs have bothered fish when their new to the aquarium but generally a day after I add any new fish the tiger barbs will leave them alone and go back to bothering each other all day.

I have platys in the tank and a couple guppies that tiger barbs would normally target but they don't so I'm thinking Angelfish might be ok.

Your angels fins will more than likely prove far too much of a temptation for the tiger barbs. most people say that if you have barbs in groups of 6 or more then it tends to decease their fin nipping behaviour but the tiger is quite precocious. I probably wouldn't. You could always take your tiger barbs back when you get your angels and get a different kind of more placid school of fish?

No probably's. Angelfish will certainly have their fins trimmed, no doubt.

I wouldn't recommend angels and tigers together.

wouldn't recommend it, altho i had 2 angels for a few months, added tiger barbs and the angels still have beautiful fins, i think it might be the rainbow shark that owns the set up in the middle keeps the tigers to the right side of the tank where i have it heavily planted and the angels mainly stay on the more open left side and this separation prevents disputes?

I love my Tiger Barbs, but, they have a tank all to themselves. I think they zip around the tank way too fast for the Angels who glide thru their water. Before I gave them their own tank they nipped every other tankmate they had. I never saw the Cories I had in the tank; they cowered in a corner.
