Hey guys
I'm doing a project where I'll need a 5 gallon tank with the footprint of a 10 gallon... basically a 10 gallon tank that is only half as tall. Do any LPS sell these? Would i be better off making this myself out of acrylic? Another option is the 10 dollar 10 gal acrylic tank at walmart. Would i be able to cut this in half? how would i do this? thanks!

why do you need it half as tall? i think it would be pretty hard to cut a 10 gallon in half, but i have never cut an aquarium before! i think you would be better off building your own either out of glass or acrylic. good luck

It needs to be only half as tall. This will be used as an aquarium. Does anyone have any experience cutting acrylic that's already bonded?

Why don't you just use a 10 gallon?

lol. Just get choose a different location for the tank if it is too tall. You'll probably spend more money trying to cut the tank in half then anything else. IMO it is a waste of money. :)

or go to the hardware store, and get some glass cut to the size you need and build your own. you probably wouldn't even need plastic frames for a 6" deep tank. glass is cheaper than acrylic, although buying the pieces will probably cost more than a 10gal from walmart.
