Oscar tank mates for 125

This is always a topic! lol
I havent had oscars for a few years and back then I had one in a 55. I would like to get a 125 and get one oscar, but some other fish also. I would like maybe some type of fish that should be in groups, one other larger cichlid, then I would like some type of active catfish for the bottom that can hold his ground? I would get all the fish as babies and feed them pellets and fresh foods right away to try and keep the oscar from wanting other fish for dinner lol Maybe get the other fish fish, let them grow out a bit then add the oscar.
Any ideas? I would have a lot of fake plants/driftwood to gives some territory's out.

other cichlids are good tankmates, and there's a long list of posibilities.
South Americans like blue acaras, severums, larger geo's are very good, and something from that list is definitely what I would go with.

I've got an 7-8" stunted Oscar. I've currently got him with:

2 blue Acaras, one 3" and one about 1.5",
1 3" convict,
1 6" Plec, and
6 2" Giant Danions
1 2" Firemouth.

This is in a 125 and I've been stocked this way for about a month with no problems at all. I tried to stay away from really aggressive cichlids and I'd advise anyone to do this as most Oscars have a very undeserved reputation for being tough and aggressive. They aren't either one usually, they're just hungry.

in my 150 i have an oscar, a pair of gold sevs, a P. polleni, 6 silver dollars, and 7 pictus cats. its a really fun tank to watch.

sploke... are your silver dollars jumpy? or skittish when you go up to the tank? Fish like that (piranhas) annoy me ... bad lol
And pictus catfish, i never even thought of them, do you have a pic of all your different fish in that tank?

I might go with tinfoil barbs - those fish always seem to amaze me at their size :]
But the only ones at my lfs are larger, so their $25, ha yeah right! i have to look around for smaller ones $10 and under, because Ive heard thats how much smaller ones are.

The silver dollars are active, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them jumpy. They're always moving, but I've never seen one jump out, or even smash into the hood. I really like the pictus cats, they're also super active and have no problem putting up with the cichlids.
